Creative Path First Informational

Special points of interest:
  • Creative Path’s mission is to educate, enhance and cultivate at-risk youth who would otherwise become a statistic in the Juvenile Justice facility

Creative Path hosted its first informational  on June 19, 2008. We had organizations such as Reach, Motherly Intercession, Flint Police Department, Bud Construction, Genesee Valley Regional Detention Center, Community Mental Health, Flint North Central Weed & Seed, Magistrate, and other organizations who attended this event.
This informational discussed the focus of this new charter school to include the mission, vision, target population, curriculum focus, factors that influence our youth, why focus on juvenile and Criminal Justice, teaching methods and learning styles. Statistical data was provided regarding juvenile crime rate,
drop-out rate, and the graduation rate.
We allowed time for question and answer and each representative was given a survey at the end of the presentation.
Of the 15 people surveyed, 13 will support this new school and (2) were undecided. Many believe that many of our youth are faced with problems that deals with substance abuse, High school drop-out rate and school conflicts that all lead to poor academic performance. During the Q & A session, many believe that we need a new school committed to the school’s vision and philosophy, a school that will
cultivate community involvement, offer a structured environment and a place that will listen to our young people making creative path the central place of learning for our youth, families and the community.
